Lords day 2

Amazing stuff, but I always feel that until both teams have batted + bowled hold off on any opinions. Some tools in the media here were gloating after day 1 even though England hadn't had the opportunity to bat.  Lets see if Cook and Co. can dig in and make a decent knock.

Broad bowled really well for long periods, Clarke just looks like a player scratching around - in need of a good bit of time in the middle. (Like Balance - no foot work)

The Aussie bowlers look much sharper - but this is a pig of a pitch, I am sure England don't wan't it either.  A corporate pitch?

I love the scenes of the players especially the batsmen having to wander out through the members - Lords is such a great place.

Some of these deliveries are staying very low, despite coming in at 90mph - very un 'Lords' like...

Looking forward to Day 3 - hope we can level this series....

  1. Well played, Mr. Cook. Shame he didn't get enough. I was hoping he'd be sleeping on it. What a fantastic appeal from your new keeper for Lyons LBW on Cook. That was another tight umpires call.

The press are like that on both sides. Too eager to stick the boot in. Too eager to slaughter a team, or player, for a poor session or two.

Speaking of which, the typically friendly T20 crowd at Chelmsford were merciless on the going Middlesex chap who shelled a pair of dollies while Ryder was busy smashing their meager target to pieces. Poor lad. People were laughing. Poor lad. It was funny though.

Interesting decision not to follow on. Is that positive or defensive? I'd have put us in and gone for the now usual three early wickets to get people nervous. Maybe they didn't fancy giving Cook another go. Bat us out of the game (Warner dropped on 0!!) and give themselves how many sessions to bowl us out?
If we get a draw, this will be one of those moments. Rememebr the Gabba on 2010...
