Brave Blossoms

Is anyone else pooing themselves with excitement over the Rugby World Cup? Japan v SA, ay. Cor, blimey!
And the NRL (and SuperLeague) Finals?
Andrew, are you up for Hawthorn's second chance in WA? My friend very recently moved to Perth from here and has been overwhelmed by the sports coverage. Wall to wall NRL and AFL. They don't even have an NRL team out there. Him and his boy are going to their first AFL game to watch their new local heroes; against your mighty fighting Hawthorn.

Good to see Hales in the Test squad, finally. I'm a little surprised his lack of runs at international level in the ODI series didn't put them off, but that is surely a good thing.
A month to go before the attempt to avenge our last disaster trip to the UAE. 3-0 reverse when we were best in the world.

Stay in touch.

  1. Mighty Hawks going for a third title (hatrick) gee I can only dream they might just sneak home. If they win I might survive the pounding in Union the following morning

It's a hard pool, if England win I hope u go onto glory and win

We all have cricket burnout after that God awful tour, Afl, nrl is a nice distraction

Aus tour of Bangladesh looks to be cancelled, just as well another series disaster averted good luck at twickenham, about 3 people at work know there is a World Cup on !

  2. The NRL Biffo final this weekend, too! That's always the one for me!!
I'd take a Hawthorn AFL hat trick for an Aussie Union pounding.

Though I'm not sure that will happen; the Wallabies have been looking good and your strongest suit (back row at the breakdown) has been our weakest so far.
I don't see us winning the Cup, but if we can beat you on Saturday then I'd be hopeful of beating SA, or Scotland, or whoever, in the quarters. And once you're in the semi's... It would be a shame to meet the All Blacks there, but I don't see how we could win the pool to keep away from them until the final.
After last weekend, I'm not sure the country has recovered. Of course, there's been a grinning Welshman in the office every day, hasn't there!

    Cricket:
I saw today that the Aussie players all went back to their state teams at the weekend. Seems like the tour really is off.
England, complete with Alex Hales at the top of the order (number 2, surely Mr. Cook!!!) finally, after all those exciting runs and "Hales watch" comments on England over-by-over reports when the batting with sh*t, will be off to the UAE to avenge a 3-0 reverse.

  3. Wallabies + Hawks take a bow (Farrell as well), did I see the Aussie scrum destroy England a couple of times

Poor England still she'll shocked after Wales

  4. Ouch, that hurt! And you've ruined my plan to watch the AFL final tomorrow night without knowing the result :)
Ah, well, at least you didn't spoil the NRL final yet.

I don't know where to begin with the rugby so... first warm up game in UAE coming tomorrow (I think). Pakistan have just been brought back to 1-1 in an ODI series in Zimbabwe.
Speaking of ODI, did you see WIndies are out of the top 8 and won't be in the next Champions Trophy. Shocking!

  6. NZ v Aus in the coming test should be a nice change

  7. That was a superb NRL final. The English SL wasn't bad, either! England are off to UAE for some cricket with Pakistan on Tuesday. Exciting times, another Test series.

Your Wallabies did a good job playing rugby league (2 men in the sin-bin) against a decent looking Welsh side.
Quite unlikely, but I'd like to see a repeat of that in the Final! Perhaps with a different result, though.
